What Anatomy Atlas 3D and anatomyatlas3d.app collect (app statistics, site analytics with consent, quiz accounts), why, where it goes and how to turn it off.

Effective date: 3 November 2026.

Anatomy Atlas 3D ("the app") and this website are published by Le Super Cent ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app or visit anatomyatlas3d.app.

In short: the app has no account and no advertising, and it never asks for your name, email or contacts. From version 1.1, it sends anonymous usage statistics to help us see which features are used and what goes wrong. You can switch them off at any time in the app, under Menu › Share anonymous usage data.

Anonymous usage statistics in the app

What is sent. When you use the app, it records events such as: the app was opened, the 3D models finished loading and how long it took, a structure was selected (which one, and whether from a tap, a search or the organ explorer), an organ was opened, a layer was shown or hidden, a quiz was started or finished (with its score), the cross-section or the female body was used, a search found no result (the words searched, so we can add what is missing), a loading error or a low-memory warning occurred. Each event carries technical details: device model, iOS version, app version, and whether you use an iPhone or an iPad.

What identifies the events. A random identifier created by the app when it is installed. It is not your name, email, Apple ID, advertising identifier or device identifier, and it is not linked to any of them. Deleting the app deletes it; a reinstall starts with a new one.

Location. Our analytics provider estimates your country, region and city from the IP address of the connection, then discards the IP address. We never receive your precise location, and the app never asks for location access.

Who processes it. The statistics are sent to Mixpanel, our analytics provider, which processes them on our behalf under a data processing agreement, in its European Union data centres. We do not sell this data, share it with advertisers, or use it to track you across other apps or websites.

Why. To understand how the app is used and to find and fix problems, which is our legitimate interest in improving the app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time with the switch above: the app then stops sending statistics immediately.

How long. We keep usage statistics only as long as they are useful to improve the app, within the retention limits of our Mixpanel account.

What the app keeps on your device

The app stores a few settings so it opens the way you left it: the body model you last chose, your choice about usage statistics, and simple counters (number of sessions, structures explored, when a rating was last requested) used to decide when to ask for a rating. It also keeps a cache of 3D geometry to load faster. These stay on your device and are deleted when you delete the app.

Ratings

From time to time, after you finish a quiz or explore an organ, the app may ask iOS to show Apple's rating window. It appears at most three times a year, and Apple decides whether it shows. Ratings and reviews are handled by Apple under its own privacy policy; we only see what you choose to publish on the App Store.

Other network connections

  • The female body model is downloaded once from the App Store the first time you select it, through Apple's On-Demand Resources service, under Apple's privacy policy.
  • Links you tap (Wikipedia articles, licence pages, this policy) open in your browser. The sites you visit have their own privacy policies.
  • If you share analytics with app developers in your device settings (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and aggregated usage statistics. You can turn this off in the same settings.

This website

anatomyatlas3d.app is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse. With your consent, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure visits and clicks to the App Store. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off until you accept them in the banner; you can change your choice at any time with the "Cookies" link at the bottom of every page.

Quiz accounts on this website

The anatomy quizzes on anatomyatlas3d.app can be played without an account for a first session. To keep your progress after that, you create a free account.

What we collect.

  • Your account: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the name and email that Google shares with us (we never see your Google password). If you sign in with an email code, we store only a hashed copy of the code, for 10 minutes.
  • Your answers to the three welcome questions: who you are (for example "Physical therapy student"), why you are here, and which body regions you want first. You can change or clear them in Account settings.
  • Your progress: each answer you give in a quiz (which structure, which question type, right or wrong, and when), the structures you have found, your mistakes, your medals and your rank.
  • Your preferences: sounds, vibration, whether you want our emails and whether you appear on the leaderboard.
  • Your profile photo, if you add one: a small square picture (192 x 192 pixels) made in your browser from the photo you choose.

Leaderboard. People signed in with an account can see a leaderboard of the other accounts. Each row shows a first name and the initial of the last name (or "Anatomist" and four characters if you have not given a name), the profile photo if you added one, the number of medals and the rank. It never shows your email. The leaderboard is not public: it is hidden from visitors without an account and from search engines. To leave it, turn off "Show me on the leaderboard" in Account settings; you then disappear from it at once, and you can still see it.

Profile photo. A photo is optional. It is stored with your account in our database, shown in the site header to you and on the leaderboard to other signed-in people (only while you appear there), and included in your data download. Removing it in Account settings deletes it at once; deleting your account deletes it too.

Before you have an account. Your first session is saved under a random identifier in a cookie, so it can be added to your account when you create one. If you do not create an account, that progress is deleted after 30 days.

Cookies. We use one cookie, aa_sid, to keep you signed in (or to keep your first session). It is strictly necessary for the quiz to work, so it does not need consent; it expires after 90 days without use. We do not use it for analytics or advertising.

Who processes it. Your account and progress are stored by Cloudflare (Cloudflare D1), which hosts the website. Sign-in codes are emailed through Resend, our email delivery provider. If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes that sign-in under its own privacy policy. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Why. To provide the service you ask for: keep your progress, medals and rank across sessions and devices (performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We use your welcome answers only to choose your first questions and to understand who uses the quizzes.

Emails. We email you a sign-in code when you ask for one. If you turn on study reminders ("Remind me tomorrow" at the end of a quiz, or "Study reminders" in Account settings), we send one email the day after you play, only if you have not come back, with the quiz you were on and what is left to find; every reminder has a link to turn them off. We send tips or news about new quizzes only if you turn on "Emails with tips and new themes" in Account settings. Both are off by default and you can turn them off at any time.

How long. We keep your account until you delete it. You can download all your data or delete your account at any time in Account settings; deletion is immediate in our database and backups are cleared within 30 days.

Age. Quiz accounts are for people aged 13 or older.

Contacting us

If you write to us by email, we use your address and your message only to reply to you, and we do not share them. You can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time.

Children

The app and the website are educational references and are not directed at children under 13. The app does not ask anyone for personal data. Quiz accounts on the website are for people aged 13 or older; if you believe a child under 13 has created one, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete and object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL). Because app statistics are anonymous and not linked to you, we usually cannot find which ones are yours; switching statistics off and deleting the app stop and reset them. For a quiz account, you can download or delete your data yourself in Account settings. For anything else, or for your email correspondence, write to us.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy before a version of the app changes how it handles data, and change the effective date above.
