Innerbody alternatives in 2026
Six alternatives to Innerbody's free Anatomy Explorer, checked on November 2, 2026: article sites, 3D viewers, quizzes, apps, price model and limits.
The closest alternatives to Innerbody are TeachMeAnatomy and Kenhub for reading about anatomy, and BioDigital Human or Zygote Body for a 3D body in the browser. For a full course, the OpenStax textbook is free; for a free 3D atlas with a quiz on iPad or iPhone, there is Anatomy Atlas 3D. Innerbody's Anatomy Explorer is itself free: illustrated pages on 12 body systems, with a 3D view, in a browser and without an account.
Quick answer
- Same format, more depth for exams: TeachMeAnatomy, an anatomy website with a few free articles a month, and an app with quizzes and flashcards, both on a Pro subscription.
- 3D in the browser: BioDigital Human, the viewer behind Innerbody's own "3D Rotate and Zoom" view, free for 10 model views a month.
- Free 3D practice with a quiz: Anatomy Atlas 3D (our app), free with no in-app purchase, on iPad and iPhone only.
What Innerbody offers
Innerbody's Anatomy Explorer splits the body into 12 systems: skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, nervous, respiratory, immune and lymphatic, urinary, female reproductive, male reproductive and integumentary. Each system page pairs a written explanation with illustrations, and the muscular system page has a "3D Rotate and Zoom" view that loads BioDigital's 3D viewer. Reading it needs no account and no payment.
Anatomy is one part of the site. Most of Innerbody Research's menus lead to reviews of health products (supplements, telehealth services, home tests), and it sells its own supplements under the Innerbody Labs name, as the site showed on November 2, 2026. We found no Innerbody app on the US App Store.
Why people look for an Innerbody alternative
Three gaps send people elsewhere:
- You are preparing an anatomy exam. The system pages we checked explain each system in prose; they have no quiz to test yourself.
- You want an app. There is no Innerbody app for iPhone or iPad, so nothing works offline.
- You want a site about anatomy only. Most of Innerbody's menus lead to health product reviews, not to study material.
If you only need a clear overview of a body system, Innerbody does that job for free. The options below fit the needs it does not cover.

TeachMeAnatomy
The nearest match in format: a website with 600+ anatomy articles, which the site says are written and peer reviewed by doctors. Its app, TeachMe Anatomy, adds 750+ 3D models, 1,900+ quiz questions and flashcards, and lets you study the articles and questions without a connection.
- Choose it if: you liked reading Innerbody's system pages and now need anatomy at exam level, with quizzes.
- Limits: the website lets you read a few articles a month, then asks you to upgrade, and shows adverts unless you pay. The app's Pro subscription costs $37 a month, $144.99 a year or $290 for lifetime access on the US App Store.
Kenhub
A web platform built on illustrations and articles. With a free account you can read the atlas and the articles and try some of the videos and quizzes; Premium adds 485+ quizzes and the full video tutorials. Its pricing page showed €29 a month, €66 every 3 months or €220 for lifetime access, with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
- Choose it if: you want the same reading-first approach with a structured course and exam quizzes.
- Limits: most quizzes and videos are behind Premium, and the full platform runs in a browser; Kenhub's iOS app is a flashcard trainer. More options in our Kenhub alternatives.
BioDigital Human
BioDigital Human is the viewer behind Innerbody's 3D view, available on its own. Its listing describes 700+ anatomy and health condition models, a web version at human.biodigital.com included with registration, and an iPhone and iPad app.
- Choose it if: you liked Innerbody's 3D view and want to explore more models, on a computer or a tablet.
- Limits: the free version is capped at 10 model views a month and 5 saved models; unlimited access is Personal Plus at $19.99 a year. You need an account to use the web version.
Zygote Body
A 3D anatomy atlas that runs in a browser, usable without an account. You turn the body with the mouse, fade layers with an opacity slider and search for a structure by name.
- Choose it if: you want to explore a 3D body on a computer without installing anything.
- Limits: its guide marks some tools as Premium (full orbit rotation, saved scenes and the quiz mode), and the home page does not show the price.
OpenStax Anatomy and Physiology 2e
A free, peer-reviewed college textbook from OpenStax at Rice University, readable online or as a PDF. It covers the same body systems as Innerbody, with physiology, figures and review questions in every chapter.
- Choose it if: you are taking an anatomy and physiology course and want a full free textbook rather than overview pages.
- Limits: it is a textbook, with no 3D model and no self-scoring quiz.
Anatomy Atlas 3D (our app)
Anatomy Atlas 3D is a free 3D human anatomy atlas for iPad and iPhone: 2,000 structures, no account, no ads, works offline, English and Latin names and a tap-the-structure quiz. You peel the body layer by layer, tap a structure to read its name, and muscles open a card with action, origin, insertion and innervation. The quiz names a structure and you find it on the 3D body.

- Choose it if: you want to turn a 3D body and test yourself on what you read on Innerbody, for free, on your iPad or iPhone.
- Limits: it has no articles, videos or physiology lessons and no App Store ratings yet. It runs on iPad and iPhone with iOS 18 or later, with no Android app and no 3D on the web. You can try the free anatomy quiz in your browser on any device.
How to choose
