Visible Body alternatives in 2026

Six alternatives to Visible Body's Human Anatomy Atlas 2027 and VB Suite, compared from App Store listings on October 22, 2026: price model, content, updates.

The main alternatives to Visible Body are Complete Anatomy (a yearly license with courses and videos), Anatomy Learning ($16.99 once), BioDigital (free tier, then $19.99 a year), TeachMe Anatomy (articles and quizzes) and Anatomy Atlas 3D, a free 3D atlas with no in-app purchase. Visible Body's best-known app, Human Anatomy Atlas 2027, costs $24.99 on the US App Store, and its all-in-one VB Suite is a $34.99 yearly student subscription.

Quick answer

  • More depth, with courses and videos: Complete Anatomy for iPad, if you or your school can pay a license ($59.99 to $119.99 as listed).
  • Cheaper one-time purchase: Anatomy Learning, free download with a $16.99 Definitive Edition, in ten languages.
  • Fully free, no subscription: Anatomy Atlas 3D (our app). The whole atlas with no account and no ads, offline. Simpler than Visible Body: no AR, animations or physiology content.

Which Visible Body app are you replacing?

Visible Body sells several apps, and they are not all at the same stage. As listed on the US App Store on October 22, 2026:

Visible Body's own site lists the Suite at $34.99 a year for students and $199 a year for professionals, with web and mobile access. The Suite listing says it combines the content of the five other apps.

Why students look for a Visible Body alternative

From what the listings show, the reasons are practical rather than about quality:

  1. You pay before you try. Human Anatomy Atlas costs $24.99 up front, and its animations and dental content are separate purchases.
  2. Several apps, one subscription. The single-topic apps are paid one by one, and the Suite that bundles them is a yearly subscription.
  3. Some apps are not recent. Anatomy & Physiology was last updated in 2019 and Physiology & Pathology in 2020, so check that they run well on your device first.
  4. Large downloads. Human Anatomy Atlas is a 1.3 GB download and VB Suite 1.9 GB.

If your instructor uses Visible Body Courseware, you will get an invite link from them and do not need to buy anything else.

How to choose

  • Your course uses Visible Body Courseware: stay with it. Assignments and tests happen there.
  • You want physiology and pathology too: VB Suite at $34.99 a year covers more than any single alternative here; BioDigital is the closest outside Visible Body.
  • You want depth without a subscription: Anatomy Learning ($16.99) or Human Anatomy Atlas itself ($24.99).
  • You want to start today for free: try a free atlas first, revise the muscles of the shoulder or the heart with it, and pay only when you know what you miss. Our best free anatomy apps roundup separates free apps from free downloads.
  • You want free anatomy in a browser instead of an app: see our Innerbody alternatives, from reading sites to 3D viewers.
